I've made you all a treat for New Year's. It's an Oasis New Year's wallpaper for your desktop. A .zip file is available for download here. Unzip the file named Oasis2000.bmp into your Windows directory. If you would prefer the .jpg version, click the picture to the left. Then you just need to right click the picture and click "Set As Wallpaper". Enjoy and have a Happy Millennium Eve! I'll be back on January 4 with an update.

Experience Oasis
Major news. Oasis will apparently be teaming up with NME for development of their new website. I just heard this through the grapevine, so nothing has been confirmed yet. If it goes through, it should be excellent. Meanwhile, Sony Music Europe has done a fine job teasing us by releasing a new "website" for Oasis(which is really just a Flash animation). Click the link to the right to access it. It's worth checking out for some new pictures and most importantly an official sound AND video clip of "Go Let It Out". I've heard the whole song and am enjoying it immensely.

If you don't want to settle for a 30 second clip or a bad .mp3 copy, the song will get its first Radio 1 airing on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Tuesday, January 4. You can expect to listen sometime after 8AM GMT. That will be the wee hours of Tuesday morning for us North American folk. You can go here for some more information while it lasts and here for the Radio One mainpage. A hint: To hear the webcast of the radio station, click the button that looks like this near the top of the page under the title. It's a bit hard to find right away. You can count on me to bring you up to date to hear and see everything Oasis over the next few important months, so keep checking back here.

Just a quick update. There is a new poll for you to check out under the menu to the left. The old one has been finished and archived, you can view the archive of past polls here. As well, Sony has been spreading the Christmas spirit again by threatening legal action for posting .mp3 files of new album tracks. Let everyone know what you think about this by voting in the poll. I believe that real fans will buy the album anyway, and there is no way Sony will be able to stop the spread of .mp3's in future. I personally will make my own disc of these files until the album comes out, but I'll also be first down to the shops on February 28th to buy it.

Not much news recently... the boys are busy with Christmas just as we all are so there probably won't be much in the way of news until January. Do you like my snow? :) I've seen it pop up on a few other sites, it's actually just JavaScript but you wouldn't believe how difficult it is to find a decent snowflake! Anyway, don't ask how I did it because it is too complicated to explain. Just enjoy it and look for another neat effect for New Year's. If I can find a decent graphic that is...

What's with all the new Oasis sites popping up? It's getting crazy but I'm proud to say that my site turned 2 in October so it has been around longer than most. Thanks for keeping it popular and one of the best kept secrets on the net.

So what is everyone doing for New Year's Eve? I'll be out in Toronto at the El Mocambo's New Year's bash, it's put on by a wonderful bloke called Davy Love who always assures that we have a swinging time. He is infamous in Toronto for putting on a Mod/Invasion/Britpop night called Blow-Up (based on the London club of the same name). If you want to know more about it, read the article here. I was actually one of the original 30 there the first night it was put on, we went there a couple days after a triumphant Oasis gig at The Warehouse that I flew out to see. Now everyone claims to have been there then, but I truly was. I have made it a necessity to go to Blow-Up every time I go to see Oasis as it is simply fantastic - there is no other club in Canada that even compares. If anyone reading this is planning on going, e-mail me at megmatthews@hotmail.com and we'll meet up if you so desire.

Hide the kiddies! Who wants an .mp3 version of Fuckin' In The Bushes??? If you don't want .mp3, how about Real Audio Stream or Real Audio Download? Your choice, but you are not leaving this site without it. If anyone has heard Noel's remix of The Knock, you'll find this song very reminicent. 'Kickin' out the jams with the drums of death' to 'The kids are running around naked, fucking in the bushes'! Noel is ripping off himself again... but I like it.

For those of you who are interested in joining my mailing list, you can view my archives and join the list here. It is a low-volume list which I use to inform you about updates to the page. It is not one of those lists where everybody posts and it rules your inbox for life. Have a look, you can also unsubscribe at any time.

I am so happy. Liam was quoted yesterday as saying "I like Toronto. I like Canada. I'm not that keen on America, you know what I mean? It's all right. I like Canada a lot better. It's just more laid-back I think, a bit more European." No offense to the Americans, but every time a British band comes over here they seem to fail to realise that we ARE in fact a separate, different country. The quote was taken from an interview with Liam for the Toronto Sun, which you can read here.

I have procured a link to a copy of a Real Audio file of Who Feels Love as performed by Noel yesterday on Edge 102 for those of you who weren't fortunate enough to hear the webcast. There is an excellent synopsis of the interview with Noel here.

Today also marks the 19th anniversary of John Lennon's death. Visit a fantastic tribute to our heroes hero at Bagism.com. You may post your thoughts, view some beautiful pictures or listen to a gallery of sound files.

In case you missed the other three US radio shows, an interview with Noel will be broadcast on Live In Toronto tonight at 6PM EST (midnight UK) on Toronto Canada's Edge 102. This should be a good one as it is Noel's only Canadian radio appearance. There is news that they will be recording a radio special for CBC which will air in February, but there has been no confirmation on that. Rest assured I will keep you posted. For more Canadian Oasis content, visit MuchMusic's interactive Oasis Spotlight here.

Whew. So much news lately. Oasis has decided to get rid of the old logo and go with a new style, pictured right. Click the picture for a bigger version. This new version was apparently designed by Noel himself, rather than Brian Cannon. No word yet whether Noel will be trying his hand at sleeve design on the new album cover. Vote in my poll located under the site menu... sound off about what YOU think of the new logo!

Oh, and by the way. This has nothing to do with Oasis, but can people PLEASE spell "millennium" right? It is two "l"s and two "n"s. I was at a card store today and saw a couple of commercial greeting cards spelling it as "millenium". If Robbie Williams, the Backstreet Boys and the dictionary can spell it right, so can you.

Oasis is currently doing a brief promotional tour of the US where they are playing US radio shows. Last night they played a radio show for station Y100 in Philadelphia, PA. Photo at left is courtesy of Eric Arnum - he kindly sent it through email to me this morning. Tonight you can catch them on a live webcast from Chicago's Q101 and Detroit's 89X tomorrow. See those sites for details. Noel will also be appearing on Canada's music station, MuchMusic on Monday, December 6 at 4PM EST. And for the record, he will appear no where near me in December. What else is new. :P

How do you say.... GEM? Here is the truth, and it may shock you. It is actually said with a hard "G", like "game". There is your useless trivia for today! Stay mad for it.

November 26/1999
Looks like Alan McGee is leaving Creation Records effective June 2000. Where did it all go wrong? Sony Music will then become full owner of Oasis and Noel Gallagher himself. Hard to say how this will affect the band, but maybe we'll get a decent official website out of it and all get sued after all!

If you are liking the new website, sign the guestbook and let me know. It appears that Guestworld is undergoing some changes right now and lately my book hasn't always been available, but sign when you can!

One thing I have fixed though, are my digital postcards. Check them out and send one! You can even send the new millennium edition Liam card! (Though this one is kind of for the ladies...)

Can it be true? Is she actually updating the site? The answer is... YES! Quite frankly, I have been put to shame by all of those lovely X-Files sites out there and I've decided to get off my butt and do something about it.

Certainly the rest of the site is a shambles compared to this page now, but now that winter is here I should have plenty more time to work on it. The Be Here Now Oasis Webring also needs some work so I will be one busy webmaster with all of these updates! Instead of using my mailing list I felt there was a need for a newer way to let everyone know about pressing news and website updates as they visit. So here it is! My "What's New" column which I may occasionally use to rant and rave about things like... "F**kin' In The Bushes? Why Noel... why???" :)

Last but not least, I've decided to start from scratch because with the changes in the band I figured that now is as good a time as any to change my website.
Stay mad for it, but don't ever forget Bonehead and Guigsy. I know I won't.
